How much ?
Have a friend who wants to sell me this weapon ( like i need another long gun ) anyone have any idea what would be a fair price for this ? Thanks for any help.........:ok: a Norinco SKS Paratrooper Model, It takes AK Mags rather than the fixed mags. It is in a Fiber force Dragnov stock, with a compensaitor on the muzzle. To go with this I have: 3 30rd AK mags 1 75rd drum the Stripper clip loader that goes over the mags. 1 10rd mag 1 5rd mag the booklet for it. oil bottle, cleaning kit. about 12-15 stripper clips. The bandolier to carry the stripper clips Bayonet attachment has been ground off, so no bayonet. |
Re: How much ?
For the SKS itself in the Drag stock, figure $350-$450. Most recent sales on gunbroker.com are running $380-$410. Since it's been bubba'd (replacement stock, bayo lug ground off, compensator), you should probably pay less.
3 AK mags ~$40-$45 AK drum mag $150 if Romanian, $200 if Chinese (prices are for new condition) Stripper clips ~$5 The other stuff is just fluff, little value. |

sounds like you own it and your trying to get someone to give you an offer or a ball park price so you can sell it....... :signs14: That is how I read this post......... |

OMG .......you are so wrong .......have a friend who needs a few bucks & I may be the pawn shop for him till he gets back on his feet ....just wanted a ball park idea of what it was worth which CrufflerJJ was kind enough to do .......sad to say you look at the wrong side of things .....I was only trying to be fair to both my friend & myself by getting a impartial 3rd party opinion...... |
Re: How much ?
If it was converted by Norinco to accept AK mags it's worth a great deal more than a standard SKS.

GRP - What difference does it make whether somebody is trying to get a ballpark value to buy or to sell? What another party is willing to pay is a totally different matter. |

Yes, if you happen to run into a desperate Gumby at the local gun show, he/she might give you $500+. Most of these, however, are selling online around $350-$450. |
Re: How much ?
I agree.... $450 tops with all the accessories.
The problem is an SKS is still an SKS regardless of whether it can take AK mags. That is a cheap mod. While the stock is nice it is just a stock.... Personally I would probably only go to $400 unless the thing is pristine, in which case $450 may be worth it. You can get a real Druganov for abut $650. |
Re: How much ?
OK, my bad, but I was just telling you how I read it.
Sorry,,, |

I fail to see any value added by your negativity. Normally, I wouldn't even bother responding to a post like this, but this just rubbed me wrong. :signs14: |

Every single one is $500+ on Gunbroker right now. They only imported them for a couple of years. That makes a big difference in price. The original poster described this SKS as having no bayo lug. That would probably make it a model M imported between '92-'94. Here's one here's another and another one Look at this deal Only bid up to $475 with 9.5 days left. Ohhh, one 30rnd mag is included. Take a look at the mag well and import marks on this one GR. It should look similiar to this. Too much for me, but that is the going price for this rare SKS variant. Sure some idiot may slip up and sell one for $250 thinking it's a regular SKS every once in a while. That's how my Dad ended up with his. These are the nicest SKS's I've ever handled. The mags fit better/tighter in that than in an AK. Am I suggesting that this member pay that much? No, but he should take a look at it and see if it is original, then snatch it up for less than it's worth. A regular paratrooper sks can be had for a couple hundred. Hell, I saw a Russian model for sale for $250 a few weeks ago. Do a search for a Sig 551 while you're at GB. Is that too much as well? Please do some research before you call me out like that next time. |

I wasn't trying to "call you out" at all. Had that been my intention, it would have been a lot more clear in my postings, being the blunt sort of guy that I am. When the OP asked for info, the weapon of interest was described as a Norinco SKS Paratrooper. It wasn't described as a Model D or Model M or Type 68 or Type 68/72 (thanks, Wikipedia!). I gave my best guesstimate on value, based on the item as described (with sources to back up my guesstimate). You, on the other hand, gave a vague response "If it was converted by Norinco to accept AK mags it's worth a great deal more than a standard SKS." It's obvious that you know far more than I do on this variant of the SKS. It's unfortunate that you chose to make a vague, non-informative initial post, then get a bit grumpy & defensive when I can't use my "amazing psychotic powers" to read between the lines of your post to come up with the "true" answer. Your final post was very helpful (except for the last line). As to the SIG551, no I don't think that's too much at all. It's all a matter of supply & demand. I've heard that the SIG 5.56 rifles are very nice. I'm not thrilled by the 551, and would prefer a SIG AMT: http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIte...Item=122768569 For such a scarce rifle, a $6250 BIN price isn't bad at all. You don't see them come up for sale that often, and they are a very pretty rifle (even with the weird Schmidt-Rubin style bolt handle/cocking knob). |
Re: How much ?
Morning everyone
First thanks for all the help. Please dont argue over this... This friend of mine is a guy 32years old & single (no family to protect ) with what is happening economy wise in Lansing & with his employment he needs a few bucks to pay some bills...... I will loan him $400 on the gun & hold it for a year at which time he can repay me & get the gun back. ( if TSHTF he will get it back faster ) If he dont want it I am sure I could sell or trade it for something. I have not seen this rifle. In the e-mail he sent me he mentions the bayonet lug was ground off. As far as I know he bought this new & he didnt grind off the bayonet lug ( dont know if norinco did this either ) If he accepts my offer I will post what it looks like & what model or type it is. Thank you one & all......GR |
Re: How much ?
If he never returns, $400 for this stuff is an excellent deal.
